The Ab Glider apparently uses two different motion types (what ever that means) which they call the Circular Burn and the Arc Crunch to deliver a great Ab and obliques workout with an innovative training modality which they call Cross Motion Ab Training.

Using these innovations the Ab Glider claims it can double the calorie burn and can achieve 44% more muscle activation.

Jargon aside the real question that needs to be asked is can this machine give you better results in a shorter period of time than traditional floor based Ab Exercises? Because lets face it this machine costs $141.54 and floor based exercises cost you nothing!

I don’t believe you can get better results (flatter Abs) by using any of the machines on the market today including the Ab Glider. If you’re prepared to do a little research and learn to do what would now be called old fashioned Ab exercises correctly and then do them regularly and in good form your results will be as good as or better than if you used this machine.

Where The Ab Glider may have an advantage is for those people who don’t like to exercise! Many people find it challenging to find both the time and inclination to work out regularly and for those people a machine may make it more likely they’ll exercise at all.

The novelty value alone may inspire some to use it and it does look like a lot more fun than exercising on the floor and it will work your Abs and give you a low level cardio workout.

It must be noted that if flat Abs and a six pack is why you may be considering buying this machine then you’re going to have to do a lot more than just exercising. You’re also going to have to look very closely on what you’re eating and switch to a fat burning nutritional plan. This is because to get a visible six pack the layer of fat around your waist is going to have to go and doing this with Ab Exercises alone is almost impossible.

Bottom line:

If you have a spare $150 and don’t like to exercise then the Ab Glider may just motivate you to get off the couch which, lets face it has to be a good thing. If you’re prepared to work a bit harder and don’t mind floor exercises then something like The Truth About Abs may be more up your street.

Customer reviews at Amazon are mixed and out of 28 reviews people either love or absolutely hate this machine.

Before buying any piece of exercise equipment it’s worth spending a few minutes to research any claims made by the manufacturer. We’d all like to believe that there is a piece of exercise equipment that is going to magically help us lose the extra fat we’re carrying but before getting out your wallet does your latest gadget fall into any of the following categories?

Obvious but missed by a lot of people is the old adage “If it sounds to good to be true it probably is to good to be true”. The piece of exercise equipment that will help you lose 40lbs of flab in 30 days just doesn’t exist. We all wish it did but it doesn’t we need to get over it and implement a proper workout regime and eat more healthily.

Is the inventor of this exercise gadget a health and fitness professional? Does he have any recognized fitness qualifications? If not you might as well get exercise advice from your Grandma.

Has this gadget got good reviews on-line? If all the reviews are negative or there aren’t any yet that’s usually a red flag either wait until there are some or move on.

Don’t get suckered in by the testimonials for the product because in many cases they’re from paid actors. Also the results achieved are usually not gained by just using the exercise equipment being promoted.

Doe the product specifically mention eating and lifestyle changes you’ll need to make. I’m not talking about the tiny disclaimer shown on the TV advert but do they actually talk about healthy eating and calorie reduction in the Informercial?

In our heart of hearts we know when we’re being scammed but hope springs eternal and that nagging voice in the back of our heads whispering that maybe this time we’ll get lucky and this will ll be be the piece of kit that will help us realize our weight loss dreams.

Well I’ll wager it won’t. The only way to be permanently successful at weight loss is through correct nutrition and regular effective exercise.

No ifs, buts or maybe

Lets face it working out means getting hot and sweaty or at least it should if you want to get decent fat burning results. At Home Exercise is tough because it’s just so easy to put it off.

Another great reason to go to the gym comes in strange guise energy generation. Some gyms are now installing exercise machines like bikes, cross trainers and treadmills that actually convert all your sweat and hard work into electricity.

The modified equipment have inbuilt generators that produce electricity as you use them and this can then then be put back into the grid to help reduce their overall power requirements.

The only downside is that the power produced is small about 50 Watts of power per hour of use by the average individual so one person isn’t going to power a kettle (2,000 Watts) for that you’d need at least 40 people puffing and panting like crazy.

However when you consider the price of one of these machines is about $1,200 they’re no more expensive than traditional gym quality equipment and they will help to lower a gyms carbon footprint and help to pay the electricity bills.

With the cost of energy spiraling out of control anything that helps reduce our consumption has got to be a good idea. Oil is at $120 a barrel at the moment and there seems no end in sight in energy costs. Sooner or later even the small amount of power generated by these exercise machines is going to be worthwhile.

Now I just need to persuade my husband to part with $1,200 and I can use it to power my IPod

It’s amazing what you find while browsing the Internet yet another abdominal exercising machine claiming to be able to give you a strong core and great looking abs. I must say I’m feeling left out because living in the UK I don’t get to see these infomercials when they first come out and I have to rely on searching the Web to find them.

This one is called the T-Core and it looks a bit like an over-sized pogo stick which you place on your lap whilst seated and you push down with your hands. It can be adjusted to have 40,80 or 120 lbs of resistance and will (apparently) target your Upper Abs, Lower Abs and Obliques.

It reminds me a little bit of a large Six Second Abs machine (if you remember that one) and works in a similar way.

I’m sure the burning question in your mind right now is will it work, will it help me get great looking Abs and help me achieve my fitness goals?

I don’t know is the answer to that as I don’t have a T-Core I can try but from experience I can tell you that any piece of exercise equipment that focuses on just one muscle group isn’t as effective for weight loss as something that will target multiple muscle groups and has a cardio component.

If you know different because you have one then feel free to leave a review or comment in the box below.

I love at home exercise equipment and can’t see something new without commenting on it and in many cases I rely on people like you to provide your real life reviews and views good or bad and I apologise in advance if you’ve found this page and no one has written a review yet.

You could of course be the first

Well that’s interesting it looks like no one has seen a review of the Supreme 90 Day Workout yet!

If you take a look at my first post asking people to leave a review if they had one (you can view it here) Supreme 90 Day Reviews who knows someone may have left a review by the time you actually read this.

I have to say it’s very annoying to have to wait maybe weeks for any product once you’ve made up your mind to buy it particularly if it’s fitness related. All we want to do is get on and start our new regime and we’re forced to wait.

I suppose it could be that demand has out stripped supply but even so it is the New Year so you’d think they’d have known demand would be high.

So if you’ve actually received the 90 Day Workout please leave a review either on this post or on my original post which you can find above.

At under $20 it’s a bargain if it’s any good that is. Still hope springs eternal and if it’s only half as good as the sales pitch says it is it’ll still be good value for money.

We’ll see.

When searching for a suspension trainer one name usually springs to mind the and that’s the TRX. The only problem (if you can call it a problem) is the price it’s expensive and will cost you over $150.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a similar product that was less expensive but would still get the job done? Well there is now and it’s called the Protege and is sold by BodyWeightCultureUSA (Universal Strength Apparatus) and is the latest addition to the product range.

If you take a look at the video you’ll see that like the TRX it enables you to do a lot of body weight exercises that would be impossible to do without a suspension like the Protege. Even simple exercises become more challenging when suspended!

The Protege comes complete with:

Two straps each 8 feet in length

Door attachment

Four foot straps

Four carabiners.

This is a well made piece of kit that is rated to 300lbs and should last a lifetime. It also has one other great feature and that’s its price it costs just $39.99. It now means you can try suspension training at home, add it to your workouts and not break the bank

There is one down side though. Last time I checked it wasn’t in stock which is annoying to say the least although chances are by the time you read this that will have changed.

The silly season is upon us once more and no doubt right after the new year a lot of people will look down at their stomachs and wish they hadn’t eaten so many mince pies.

In a panic they’ll cast around for a quick fix. Some will join a gym, hire a Personal Trainer and some will be seduced by the adverts that appear at this time of year claiming they can slim you down and tone you up if you’ll only buy the exercise gadget they’re promoting.

No effort involved the fat will just melt off you if you spend 10 mins a day just looking at it

Sigh if only that were true I’d buy one myself! Sadly life isn’t like that and the only way you’re going to carve off the extra pork is to eat sensibly and workout regularly and God forbid maybe even sweat a little.

I’ll make my first recommendation for the new year a piece of exercise equipment that has no moving parts (except for you), is easy to setup, portable and will give you a great full body workout that actually works.

It’s the TRX Suspension Trainer the TRX straps which can be easily fitted to a wall or door frame enable you to do many body weight exercises that would be impossible to do without them. Simple, effective and fun to do the TRX Suspension Trainer will bring a new dimension to your workouts.

For many the system will be so simple and easy to use with no complicated dials and levers that they’ll just pass it by looking for the next easy fix.

That would be a pity because this equipment if you use it actually works. Not for everyone but if your tired of mediocre results why not take a look and see if the TRX could help you achieve your fitness goals.

Tell me how can you possibly get the benefits of exercise without actually exercising? Or to put it another way how can you exercise effectively without getting hot and sweaty?

Well you can’t. I don’t care how much blathering and miss information the Infomercials put out you can’t get an effective calorie burning workout with out working out! You’d think it was obvious but apparently common sense isn’t very common anymore.

Don’t be conned into spending a small fortune on an exercise device that says it’ll do all the work for you and then claim that you can still get fantastic results cos it isn’t true. I must have written on this subject so many times you may be getting bored with it but it makes me so cross I just can’t help but come back to it.

The Rules:

Keep away from any piece of equipment that claim you don’t have to do any work to get great results

If it sounds to good to be true it is to good to be true

Watch out for lines like “Lose a dress size in a week” or “Burn 5lbs of Fat a week whilst watching TV” Good equipment doesn’t need hype to sell it.

Use common sense – do the claims sound reasonable?

Does it look like real exercise (would using it make you hot and sweaty) If not forget it.

Does it cost more than $150 (That’s my limit if it costs more than that I actually want to try it before I’ll buy)

Does the product promote healthy eating? (Not dieting)

Products I like and meet my criteria would include:

The KettleWorx
The Truth About Abs

I can’t include The Step 360 yet as I haven’t tried it yet but I’m hoping to get hold of one soon and I’ll let you know how I get on.

They’re all coming out of the woodwork now.

New pieces of at home exercise equipment like you’ve never seen before. It seems like a strange time to be bringing out a new exercise gadget with Christmas just around the corner but I suppose they’re aiming for the January rush and are just teasing you at the moment.

The CircleGlide from the makers of leg magic claim (don’t they all) that you can tone and sculpt lean legs, sexy buns and awesome abs by using this machine and it’s secret is “Triple Plane Technology” which moves your body in all planes of movement.

Correct me if I’m wrong but walking moves your body in all planes of movement doesn’t it? I’ll concede that unlike gym machines that fix you in position the CircleGlide will move you about a bit more.

The Circle Glide looks like a Leg Magic machine on a turntable and it’s claim to fame is that it adds a rotational component to your exercise. How much more effective this machine turns out to be compared to the Leg Magic remains to be seen but my suspician is not much.

As with all exercise equipment if you strip away the fuff you’re left with the question how much better / quicker can I lose weight / fat with this machine compared with just doing body weight exercises and a little bit of fast walking?

My guess would be if you spent the same amount of time doing bodyweight exercises you’d get better results. The main factor in how well you’ll do is the time / effort you put into your workout not what equipment you choose to use.

When you consider this machine costs $214.75 or $14.95 + $19.95 S&H + 4 * $49.95 if bought on the trial it’s not cheap.

A better choice would be The Truth About Abs. It costs less than $40 leaving you with plenty of money left over. No gadgets or gimmicks just all the information you’ll need to get the results you’re looking for.

If however the Circle Glide excites you and will give you the motivation to exercise then go for it. Any exercise is better than no exercise

The Step360 is the latest piece of at home exercise equipment to hit the market. Claiming to be able to help you lose weight with it’s innovative new design it is another contender in the lose weight fast arena.

The Step360 is a step shaped in the form of a circle and it’s claim to fame is that it provides an unstable surface for you to workout on by using two air filled chambers which can either be fully inflated to give you a stable surface or partially inflated to make the step inherently unstable.

In theory this instability will make working out on the Step360 more challenging as more muscles will have to be recruited to keep you stable whilst working out. In practice I doubt this will make a lot of difference compared to a traditional step when it comes to fat loss.

What will make a difference however is that this step comes with a variety of workouts that if used will certainly help you in your fat loss goals. Unlike a traditional step this device looks like it could be a lot of fun to use in the home and will hopefully encourage it’s owner to actually work out instead of leaving it gathering dust under the bed.

It’s possible to attach exercise bands around the rim of this step which means as well as a great aerobic workout you can do strength training exercises like Bicep Curls, Chest Presses and Lat Raises which increases the effectiveness of this step.

The include workouts which include:

Cardio Accelerator

Love your butt and thighs

Turn up the burn

Tone up in 10

Body sculpt blaster

Speed slimming sculpt

The Step360 claims that it’s secret to fast results is interval training combining aerobic and strength training in the same workout. If done correctly interval training is a highly effective method of losing weight but must be done carefully particularly in an unconditioned person.

I quite like this product because it’s unusual and looks like a lot of fun to use.

The Good:

Nice looking piece of equipment that looks well constructed and doesn’t have any moving parts to break. The workouts are based on interval training and combine cardio with muscle building which I like as a training method. Unlike other pieces of equipment you see on the market this isn’t a gimmick and is a lot of fun to use.

The Bad:

At $119 this step is expensive when you compare it to a standard step but then it does a lot more.

My Verdict:

Having used the Step360 for the last few weeks I have to say I like it. It makes step more challenging and it’s a lot more fun. I think if you have the $119 and you buy it you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve done some videos showing The Step360 which you can see here.
