Now it looks like that if you want to burn off your stubborn belly fat you can just wrap it up in a Belly Burner and off you go! Doesn’t that sound easy? I wish!
I can honestly say I don’t understand how these are supposed to work; the Belly Burner is a wide, padded Velcro belt to wrap around your waist and it reaches from the bottom of your ribs at the top of your pelvis. The idea is that doing exercises wearing this heats your midsection up more and therefore burns more calories than working out without it.
While I’m not going to argue because I don’t want to get sued, tell me how heating your abs is going to burn any more fat off? Admittedly, if your tummy was a slice of belly pork and you put it in a hot frying pan, well yes, the fat would render down and melt away, but I have a strange feeling you’d have to be dead for that to happen, so it’s a bit pointless really.
Don’t get me wrong here; if buying this thing will make people do the exercises detailed on the DVD then that is a good thing. Heating the abdominal area will make you sweat more, you will lose water and therefore you will appear temporarily to slim down more. But as soon as you rehydrate, those inches will come back – because they’re meant to!
Sweating off a few extra pounds is what jockeys do before a flat race to get down to the required weight. Then they come straight from sweating, and hop on the horse before the body has time to replace the extra weight. The horserace only lasts a few minutes, then once it’s over and the jockey has weighed in, it doesn’t matter about the pounds going back on.
I think the Belly Burner does the same thing. And it also claims to support your back, which it will, but your back shouldn’t need support! You exercise to make your muscles and core stronger so that they support themselves – in fact the only people who need a kind of support belt like that are weightlifters who have to heave impossibly large weights above their head and are in danger of popping more than a back muscle!
The Belly Burner won’t do you any harm, and the exercises and healthy eating plan that comes with it will do you nothing but good, so if you’d just like to keep your tummy nice and warm on a cold day, it’s the perfect thing!
