Although not a new product this Rhythm Rocker Review has been written because it looks like it’s being relaunched in time for the New Year.

Yes, this is the time of year when we all suddenly decide that enough is enough and that it really is time to lose all the excess fat that just seems to have appeared over the festive season. Fitness professionals all know that January is a bumper month for picking up clients clients, gym membership soars and sales of exercise equipment goes through the roof.

Sadly come March all the new clients have given up, Gym memberships plummet and the new shiny gadget that was going to be your saviour languishes in the corner gathering dust. It was just to damn hard after all to get fat loss results does require effort, discipline and time.

So along comes a new gadget in this case the Rhythm Rocker and we all forget all the other failures we’ve had and wonder if this piece of exercise equipment will be our saviour.

Will it?

With the best will in the world I doubt it it’s a spring loaded seat with handles attached and is touted to be able to tighten your Abs, Obliques, Shoulders and arms and strengthen your back all while performing dance moves!

The idea is that you move your body against resistance created by the springs and therefore over time get stronger and burn calories.

Now I agree that any type of exercise is better than nothing but I like to get the biggest bang for my exercise buck that I can and believe that you could more effectively use your time by just doing body weight exercises on their own.

Why spend over $100 on a gadget when all you need is yourself (some dumb bells would help but aren’t essential), some time and a sensible eating plan (notice I didn’t say diet).

The quicker you accept that there isn’t a magic bullet for fat loss and the only thing you need to be successful is the correct mental attitude the quicker your going to be able to take that first step to a healthier you. The longer you hold on to the “Magic Wand” mindset the longer it’ll take you to take the first step.

However if this device will spur you on to start exercising then as I’ve always said any exercise you do is a great and good luck to you.

I keep a close eye on what’s happening in the exercise equipment and workout related topics because it’s what I Blog about and I’m seeing a disturbing trend emerge.

Talking to management at my local gym which is part of a large chain I’ve discovered that new memberships this year are down and existing members are not renewing. Things have got so bad that they’re discounting gym memberships deeply (shaving off up to $15 a month) at traditionally the busiest time of year.

I’ve noticed the same thing with new pieces of at home exercise equipment and DVD’s. There’s some new stuff out like the Supreme 90 Day Workout and The Step360 but unlike last year where there was a new piece of exercise equipment coming out almost weekly (remember the Ab Circle Pro anyone?) and people were clambering to buy wallets at the ready.

It looks like either people don’t want to lose weight anymore (unlikely) or the recession has bitten so deeply that even the health and fitness industry has been hit. When people stop spending money in an effort to lose fat you know times are hard.

The good news is it’s possible to get a great workout with little or no equipment at home with a little bit of dedication and discipline.

A complete body workout can be done using just your own body weight (press ups, squats, crunches etc) and if you have $20-$50 available you can add a pull up bar and a set of dumb bells. It’s really not that hard to get a great workout you just need the discipline to do it

Going to a Gym is great as you can vary your workouts and take Aerobics / Step / Zumba classes which makes it more interesting but please don’t use the excuse you can’t afford to keep fit because it simply isn’t true.

Well that’s interesting it looks like no one has seen a review of the Supreme 90 Day Workout yet!

If you take a look at my first post asking people to leave a review if they had one (you can view it here) Supreme 90 Day Reviews who knows someone may have left a review by the time you actually read this.

I have to say it’s very annoying to have to wait maybe weeks for any product once you’ve made up your mind to buy it particularly if it’s fitness related. All we want to do is get on and start our new regime and we’re forced to wait.

I suppose it could be that demand has out stripped supply but even so it is the New Year so you’d think they’d have known demand would be high.

So if you’ve actually received the 90 Day Workout please leave a review either on this post or on my original post which you can find above.

At under $20 it’s a bargain if it’s any good that is. Still hope springs eternal and if it’s only half as good as the sales pitch says it is it’ll still be good value for money.

We’ll see.

The Air Climber has been on the market for some time so it can’t be classed as a new piece of at home exercise equipment. It would appear that the manufactures are heavily promoting this equipment on the Infomercial channels so I thought I’d have a quick look and report my findings.

The Air Climber is a stepper and it’s claim to fame is the inflatable chambers that that provide resistance as you step up and down.

Because the chambers are air filled it’s supposed to eliminate any impact while you work out. How much of an advantage that is remains to be seen because even with traditional steppers there really isn’t any impact anyway.

The Air Climber comes with 4 DVD’s totaling 1.5 hours worth of workouts and includes Easy Air Express, Air Tight Abs, Super Pump 7 and Platinum Burn & Firm (where do they get the names from). Also included is a resistance cord, jump start diet plan and a workout computer.

The Good

If used regularly the Air Climber could help you lose weight by providing a good cardio and an OK resistance workout although the strength training component with the resistance cord would be limited. It looks like it would be a lot of fun to use and if used in conjunction with other equipment / workouts could give you great results. The Air Climber is light weight and very easy to store.

The Bad

Build quality could be a problem because of this devices air filled chambers. This makes it a fairly complicated device. If the air chambers spring a leak the machine would be useless.

The Ugly

As always the sales team of this product have gone overboard making claims like “Lose 10lb or 10 inches in 10 days” and “No More Crunches to get sexy abs”. My pet hate is fitness products that make losing weight seem quick and easy. If it’s taken many years to pile on the extra weight how can we expect to lose it in a couple of weeks? Well you can’t and I’m sure you’re well aware that successful and permanent weight loss takes both time and effort and there are no shortcuts.

Verdict

As a piece of cardio equipment that would be fun to use I think you could do worse than purchase this. Myself I would prefer something less complicated with no moving parts (except you) like the Kettleworx or an exercise system like The Truth About Abs. Whatever you choose remember it’s not the equipment that helps you lose weight it’s YOU using the equipment that counts.

Take a Look Closer Look At The Air Climber Here

When I first saw the advert for the tower 200 I must admit I was impressed and a little excited. A cable training system that can be installed anywhere you have a door. Made of steel pre-assembled and easy to use what could be better?

I’ve always liked cable machines as an exercised tool because it’s provides you with functional training. It doesn’t lock you into one particular position like gym machines nor does it isolate a particular muscle group. It’s a full body workout because almost any exercise you do using a cable machine requires that the rest of the your body (muscles) need to work to stabilise you and therefore more muscles are used whilst performing the exercise.

I must admit it sounds perfect providing a maximum of 200lbs resistance which should be enough for most people’s needs. Jake claims you only need to use the tower 200 for 11 minutes a day and that it comes with a free DVD and the ability for you to perform over 200 exercises.

I almost bought one myself but then I started to look around and read other people’s comments on the tower 200 and as I thought if it sounds too good to be true it probably is too good to be true. Opinion is divided into two camps (as always) one who say it’s well built and the other claims that pulleys break and resistance bands get frayed.

People were complaining of broken and worn pulleys and stated that the cables had started to fray and in some cases actually broke. You can imagine the damage a pulley flying off when loaded with 200lbs of pressure could do. It wouldn’t be a pretty sight if it hit you on the head or any part of the body for that matter.

It would appear this really is (or could be) a fantastic piece of at home exercise equipment costing in the region of $200 if only they can get the alleged quality problems sorted. Given half a chance I’d probably buy one myself.

Read the comments on this post to see what I mean about the quality issues.

PS I’m not saying this product is bad it may be fantastic it’s just that I get nervous when I start to read negative reviews. A couple you’d expect after all you can’t please everyone but more than that and I become wary.

Everyone seems to be looking for Ab Exercise Equipment these days. The general public’s fascination with their abs seems to have no bounds. A whole industry seems to have built up in this part of the home fitness equipment market.

These gadgets claim they can give you chiselled, flat and sexy abs in just five minutes a day! Well if you live in La La land this may be true but unfortunately in the real world this just isn’t going to happen. If five mins a day is all you are prepared to exercise fair enough it’s better than nothing but don’t expect the miracle results promised in the Infomercials. As Scotty from Startrek would say “You canna change the laws of physics captain”

To get the six pack you desire as well as exercising the abs you are going to have to reduce the amount of fat that’s covering them else you just won’t see them. For most normal people the goal just isn’t a realistic one. Your BMI will have to be very low (I think to low for most people) so the goal just isn’t usually worth the effort.

Better to focus on the entire body and look to implement regular exercise into your schedule to help increase your overall muscle mass and therefore your fat burning machine. Why just focus on your abs? Focusing on your abs alone is like putting a Porche engine in a mini even assuming you could do it what would be the point? you’re still left with a mini!

Focus instead on healthier living (we all know what that is don’t we), adding some more exercise and activity to our lives. In other words get off the couch and move a little.

For those still fascinated with Ab Equipment here is a small collection that I have written reviews about in the past. Just remember to apply common sense – If it looks to good to be true it probably is!

The Ab Circle Pro

Great fun, build quality not the greatest but if you use it as just a part of your workout can be a helpful addition.

The Ab Flyer

Not the cheapest piece of equipment but if you’re not short of money could be just what the doctor ordered.

The KettleWorx

I love this type of exercise programme. Inexpensive using simple equipment (a Kettle Bell) nothing to break and easy to learn. Not specifically just for the abs so I like it even more.

These are just a few pieces of the most popular Ab Workout equipment you can find today. If you look hard enough I’m sure you’ll find something that will suit you and your budget. Just remember their isn’t a magic bullet it takes some hard work from you to make it happen.

Many people with a weight problem don’t realize they’re obese according to a new study of over 2000 people. It was found that 10% of obese people were actually satisfied with their body size and shape even though they were obese. In fact they even thought they were healthy despite the fact that it’s well known that being overweight will have a negative impact on your health.

It was found that about eight percent of the people on the study when asked to score their body size actually underestimated their real size they seemed to have a type of body dyslexia.

Other interesting facts that were discovered included:

These that didn’t consider themselves obese hardly ever went to see a physician.

The obese people who underestimated their size didn’t exercise whilst those who admitted they were overweight did

Because their were so many obese and overweight people around them it was postulated that they felt normal and therefore thought their was no need to do anything about it.

Health professionals know that exercising regularly helps with weight problems and promotes a better quality of life. This is therefore a disturbing finding. Lets hope it doesn’t get any worse.

It’s like a disease at the moment the amount of new “stuff” coming onto the market is staggering. So what’s a person to do? How do you pick am exercise program that works?

Take Core Rhythms for example. How do you know it’s any good? Will you be able to use it to get fat loss results? If you spend your life searching for that perfect product trust me you’ll look forever and be no wiser.

Core Rhythms looks like a decent product (Disclaimer I don’t have it) it will get you moving and if followed regularly will help you lose weight. The issue is do you like it? Does it light your fire? Will it motivate you to workout?

For me it wouldn’t I don’t like to dance (call me strange if you like) so this type of workout just wouldn’t motivate me to get off my butt! But maybe it would for you, maybe you like to dance and maybe you like this type of music if so then this workout would be perfect for you.

I’ll say it again it doesn’t matter what exercise you do just do something if you find you’re getting bored have a go at something else mix it up a bit as I’ve said there’s no shortage of material.

I like to do aerobics, strength training and stretching and I get bored easily which is why I use equipment like The Firm Wave to help me get variety in my workout.

Take look at this video and see if this workout would motivate you if it does you know what to do

Question: I’ve been seeing the Malibu Pilates Chair advertised a lot recently. Could you tell me if it works as well as they say it does in the infomercial?

Answer: The Malibu Pilates Chair is a great piece of kit. It’s a little on the pricey side at over $250 but it does work. As I’ve said many times before it’s not the equipment you use but do you use the equipment? If you buy The Malibu Pilates Chair and then hang your washing on it then no it won’t work for you

If on the other hand you use it at least 3 times a week for 30 mins at a time then you’ll get fantastic results. I know it’s obvious but you’d be supprised how many people will tell you a piece of exercise equipment is rubbish and doesn’t work. When you question them carefully you discover they used it for a couple of weeks then gave up. Come on lets get real here two weeks isn’t anywhere near long enough to get visible results.

So if your committed to using the Malibu Pilates Chair regularly it will work for you no doubt about it.

If you don’t have $250+ to buy the Pilates Chair you may want to consider The Firm Wave at $90 it’s much cheaper and will still give you visible results if you use it regularly.

All the best,

Question: I’ve bought a lot of exercise equipment in the past. Without exception they’ve all been high priced pieces of junk. Before I shell out my hard earned cash I need to know I’ll not be wasting my time or money.

Answer: The Firm Wave Workout is in my opinion fantastic. The Wave is small, light weight, inexpensive and will give you an incredible fat burning workout. Unlike other exercise equipment in this price range (less than $100) you just get it out, jump on it and you’re off and running. No complicated setting up or knob fiddling.

If you are prepared to use it 3 times a week for a minimum of 20 mins you will get good fat loss results. If you don’t use it however nothing will happen! You then can’t blame the Wave only your lack of commitment

Don’t think about it just go buy one and see for yourself.
